Varipapa, a member of the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame, was a leading instructor and exhibition bowler, and trick-shot artist who starred in the first bowling film short, "Strikes and Spares," in 1934.He won the 1946-47 national All-Star at the age of 55, and was also famous for declaring that any 12 strikes in-a-row was a 300 game.

Varipapa developed trick shot bowling to its peak and through that ability starred in the first bowling film short, Strikes and Spares, in 1934. He made more such films than any bowler. He was a leading instructor and exhibition bowler, one of the first to make nationwide tours.
