Andrew Pierce: A Canadian Leader in Global Mobility
For Andrew Pierce
, an audit led to a new career direction and he's
never looked back.
a man who tells much about himself by not saying a thing.
For those who know the type, his
bearing and demeanor convey a quiet confidence most commonly referred to in military circles as "command presence.
It came as no surprise to me that Andrew
graduated from a prestigious service academy and had enjoyed a career as an officer in the Canadian Air Force
And it's this 20-year
leadership experience that eventually led him to become a leader again: in the mobility industry.
Today, as Senior Vice President, Global Alliance Management (GAM) for Brookfield GRS, a industry-leading relocation management firm, Andrew guides a geographically diverse team of 33 talented and dedicated professionals who oversee all services related to Brookfield GRS' global supplier network, including strategic sourcing, contracts, relationships, and performance management.
The team is co-located with Brookfield GRS' operations teams in nine cities in five countries.
The largest offices, in terms of GAM staff, are London and Toronto, both with eight GAM team members.
GAM also has three team members in Asia-Pacific (APAC), with the remainder sited throughout Canada and the US.
Delivering client-satisfying results is never easy and presents some real challenges.
embraces these challenges.
says, "Given the significant part that our supplier partners play in every initiation, there is an ongoing focus on supplier performance.
As a past president of the Canadian Employee Relocation Council (please see www.cerc.ca ) and one now with a border and time-zone spanning remit, Andrew Pierce is in a unique trend-spotting position.
When asked to assess the changes he's
seen in his
nearly 15-year career in the mobility industry, Andrew
had these observations:
Not one to look backward, Andrew's
also willing to predict what global mobility might look like in the decade or so ahead.
"Our industry will need to continue to stay ahead of the needs of our clients, appropriately using technology to support the core services we provide," Andrew
As mentioned above, Andrew Pierce
has also dedicated significant time to serving the broader interests of the global mobility industry, particularly in his
native Canada. As a past president of CERC
describes the Council, "Without a doubt, the passion of CERC's
volunteers is inspiring.
It's not all work for Andrew
, but even when relaxing he's
doing more than most would ever accomplish.
An avid and competitive runner, Andrew's
successfully completed an astonishing 20 marathons.
Three of those were the famously challenging Boston version (the picture above is of Andrew racing in the Columbia Icefields, Alberta, Canada).
assumes god-like status in your mind, rest assured he
doesn't have all the answers.
even proudly admits to being a bit confused at times, "I also have three teenage daughters who routinely bewilder me, but spending time with them is my greatest joy."
