Our speaker, Andy Podner, will discuss the technologies, missions, and challenges involved with bridging communications gaps with existing and new technologies in amateur radio communications.
The presentation will describe different missions and discuss specific hurdles and solutions used with regards to technological, regulatory (e.g. NIMS), and human assets before, during, and after disaster events.
Andrew is a division Manager and works extensively in business and product development for a municipal infrastructure manufacturer headquartered in New Jersey.
He has served as a Volunteer Firefighter and also in the Louisiana Army National Guard as an Operations / Training NCO in a Transportation Unit.
Formerly, he was a Commissioner on both the Building Standards and Plan Commissions in the City of Fort Worth.
More recently, Andrew has been serving as President of Johnson County Amateur Radio Service since 2007.
He is also an Assistant Emergency Coordinator & Local Government Liaison for the American Radio Relay League and is responsible for developing and coordinating emergency communications for Johnson County, Texas.
