OXFORD - A Miami University source ..., 8 Jan 2014 [cached]
OXFORD - A Miami University source confirmed on Tuesday reports that former Cincinnati Moeller quarterback Andrew Hendrix will transfer from Notre Dame to Miami and compete for the RedHawks quarterback job next season.
Hendrix follows former Fighting Irish offensive coordinator Chuck Martin, who was named Miami's coach in December.
Hendrix was redshirted as a freshman at Notre Dame and has one season of eligibility remaining. He will be eligible to play immediately because he has graduated from Notre Dame and asked Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly in December to be released from his scholarship.
Hendrix has been accepted by Miami, but he has not yet enrolled. He is expected to participate in spring practice.
After throwing for 1,242 yards and eight touchdowns and rushing for 238 yards and six touchdowns as a Moeller senior in 2009, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Hendrix was a combined 25-of-58 for 360 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in 12 games over three seasons at Notre Dame.
