Director of Strength and Conditioning
Andrew Carter enters his third season as the head strength and conditioning coach at Campbell, where he works closely with all 20 athletic programs.
Carter also serves as an instructor within the exercise science department.
He comes to Campbell after spending three years as the head strength and conditioning coach at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Va. In addition to his strength and conditioning duties, Carter also worked as the physical education department coordinator and assistant boy's varsity lacrosse coach.
Carter began his career as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Delaware (2003-05) where he was responsible for implementing strength and conditioning programs for men's lacrosse, baseball, softball, men's soccer, rowing, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field and cross country.
Carter has also served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the U.S. Women's National Lacrosse Team (2006-08), volunteer assistant strength coach at Notre Dame (2004) and the head strength and conditioning coach for the Cecil Community College's men's basketball team (2004-05).
Also included in Carter's extensive background is some teaching and research work as an adjunct professor at Marymount University
(2007), a research assistant at the University of Delaware
(2003-05) and a research associate with the Miami Project
to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami
also has authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals including¸ the Journal of Strength and Conditioning
Research and the Journal of Athletic Training.
has presented at the Southeastern North Carolina Strength & Conditioning Clinic, the NSCA National Conference, and the NATA National Conference.
A 2002 graduate of Salisbury University with a bachelor's degree in physical education with emphasis in exercise science, Carter also earned his master's in exercise physiology from Delaware in 2005.
Carter, a former three-year football letterwinner at Salisbury, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is USA Weightlifting Club Coach Certified and is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
