Labasa appoints Sami as coachMay 16, 2008 Australia-based former Fiji and Labasa soccer midfielder Anand Sami has been appointed the new coach of the Labasa soccer team for its all important league fixture against Ba this Saturday and the upcoming Fiji Bitter FACT.Sami, who last featured on the local scene in 1992 before taking up a development officer post at Fiji Football Association and later migrated to Australia, jetted into the country late last week and has since been taking the team through its drills daily.Labasa soccer boss Abinesh Kumar said they were honoured to have the services of Sami, who is a very well respected and qualified coach.Kumar said Sami's presence would certainly boost the morale of the team in the league decider against Ba and the Fiji FACT."Sami has been taking the boys through their training runs and is working closely with our local coach in preparing the team," he said."The players have been showing a lot of respect to Sami because he is a true son of Labasa football and has more of been an idol to most of the Labasa boys because of his reputation as a player and then as a development coach."
