Presented by Amy Stern, JD, and co-sponsored by NCJW Chicago North Shore and Jewish Coalition Against Sex Trafficking Chicago.
To kick off the first of a three part series on immigration, we are excited that Amy Stern, JD, co-founder of Pathways Immigration Law LLP of Chicago is our main speaker. As a former government officer for United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), her experience adjudicating applications and working with the immigrant community will provide a unique insight to immigration law. She will provide an overview of federal immigration laws, definitions of immigrants vs. refugees, special issues around undocumented women and children, the connection of immigration to sex trafficking and the related legislation to protect victims such as the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA).
