Inter's Uruguayan midfielder Alvaro Recoba is equally excited about the tie, which could have sold the San Siro out five times over.
"Few people have the chance to playing a derby with a Champions League final at stake," he said. "We are aware of how important these two matches are. You can't top playing in these matches." Recoba believes Milan start as slight favourites because of their form in earlier rounds, but was upbeat about Inter's chances. "Perhaps they are favourites, and I say that because Milan reached the semi-finals by playing a bit better than us," he said.

A number of their key European players have been called up including Villarreal’s Diego Forlan and Inter Milan’s Alvaro Recoba.
If Uruguay, as expected, play with three up front then Alvaro Recoba could play from the left and Fabian Estoyanoff could operate from the right flank. Recoba, once rumoured to be the highest plaid player in the world a few seasons ago has shone sporadically for Inter. However, his inability to turn on the style on a regular basis has cost him his place at Inter and he has only been involved on occasions for the Italian Champions this season. Recoba is currently a free agent and knows that a good Copa America could led to a lucrative contract elsewhere.

Alvaro Recoba, the Uruguayan wizard before Suarez.
He played for Inter Milan and during his prime his was reported to be the highest paid player in the world. With a left foot like a wand and teeth that could eat an apple through a tennis racket, this man was one of the best players EVER in Serie A. During his 10 year spell at Inter, he mesmerized fans with regular 30 yard belters into the top corner, chips from outside the box, free kicks Becks would be proud of and dribbles a 4 year old couldn't do. Unfortunately his mentality stopped him reaching the top.

' Alvaro Recoba - the eternal dilemma '
El Chino - like he is called by Inter ultras - was the brightest star of Uruguayn league and had scored unbelieveble 57 goals in 51 matches with Uruaguayn national team when he decided to join Inter in 1997. He made his debut for Inter at Giuseppe Meazza on August 1997. Inter was playing against Brescia and was 0-1 down when Recoba ran to pitch. Alvaro Recoba is an amazingly gifted football player. He has one of the best left feet in the world, great technique, good pace and he is very creative. Also he can walk 90 minutes on the pitch, wonder what he could do and behave like primadonna. Heâ,Ôs so damn lazy very often. Nobody but Recoba himself can solve problems in his head. This must be done at first! He plays very irregularly. Itâ,Ôs due to his lazy attitude. Today he scores two very beautiful goals and give brilliant assist and then he' a shadow next four matches. He was able to keep most of fans quite satisfied this way but it's not possible after Euroderby any second longer. Damn, 27-year old guy who has been professional football player ten years should realize that work is needed to get results. I dare to say that if he used only 75% his all potential he would be one of the top scorers in Serie A. Find the heart Recoba! Recoba was substituted after awful performance but who can believe that his reaction would have been same. Hardly nobody. Cordoba are pure winners and great professionals but Recoba isn't at all at the moment. Recoba says only that he has too but nobody can see it. Find this fighters heart Chino and your performances have gone a mile forward. If Recoba was used behind two strikers we would almost always win or lose with Recoba. Who wants to put all eggs in one basket? I donâ,Ôt and not especially such a weak basket as Recoba. Chino had to play several matches as left winger and he has all skills to play as winger, besides willing to defend little bit. That should be never seen again because Inter faced problems in defence and he didn't play like wingers should (keep position on the flank and cut in only sometimes) in my opinion. I think that itâ,Ôs the best position for him support striker and he seems to prefer it himself too. Who can imagine better striker partnership than skillfull, creative Alvaro Recoba and strong bomb man Christian Vieri? Recoba has said something like this: "I want to show that I deserved a

As expected, Milan tried to maintain possession early on while Inter tended to go for the cutting pass to their strikers Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba.
Inter tried to hit back but Ivan Cordoba's header from a corner glanced wide, Dida came out bravely to pluck the ball off Conceicao's feet while Alvaro Recoba's header was saved. Inter: Toldo; Vivas (J Zanetti 46), Cordoba, Cannavaro, Coco; Conceiao (Okan 74), Di Biagio, Farinos (Kallon 82), Morfeo; Recoba, Vieri Uruguayan phenom Alvaro Recoba, therefore, can expect to benefit with a start alongside Christian Vieri. Inter (4-4-2): Toldo - Coco, Cannavaro, Cordoba, J. Zanetti - Okan, Di Biagio, Emre, Morfeo - Recoba, Vieri.
