Biography: Allen Hines
The background for Allen as related to his accident investigation experience started in November 1973, when he entered the Missouri State Highway Patrol training academy.Allen was trained in accident investigation, along with a general law enforcement education.In April 1974, he was assigned to Rolla, where he worked Phelps, Maries, and Dent counties.In 1978 he transferred to Branson, where he was stationed until 1986.During his assignment to the Branson area, he was responsible for working all of Taney, Stone, and the southern half of Christian counties.He served in a road assignment for 12 years, investigating or assisting with more that 1,200 traffic crashes.
In 1983, Allen attended Advanced Accident Investigation classes at the Missouri State Highway Patrol training academy.In 1984 he was certified in accident reconstruction and was trained by Mr. Mike Lofgren, from IPTM.
In 1988, Allen obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management from Tarkio College.In March 29, 2000, Allen achieved his ACTAR certification #1074.
Allen is an instructor of the Traffic Crash Investigation and Reconstruction classes at the Missouri Safety Center at Central Missouri State University.
Allen developed the PowerPoint training aids used for all accident investigation classes from Crash 1 through Crash 5.These cover areas such as safety topics, basic math equations, diagramming, airborne equations, skid equations, speed equations, as well as time-distance equations.

Allen Hines
Allen Hines was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol November 1, 1973. He has worked in the Rolla area, Branson area, and was last assigned to Troop D Headquarters in Springfield. He retired as a sergeant after 27 1/2 years with the Patrol. During his career, he was trained as an accident reconstructionist, while assigned to the Branson zone. He was later assigned to the D.A.R.E. unit, where he taught, trained, and evaluated D.A.R.E. officers. In 1989, Allen completed his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Tarkio College. Allen has taught as a generalist instructor for the Missouri Sheriff's Academy and the law enforcement program at Drury University. Prior to his retirement, Allen was accredited by ACTAR (Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction). He currently sits on the Governing Board of Directors for ACTAR. Following his retirement Allen worked for Midwest Accident Reconstruction Services for four years. He is also the coordinator and lead instructor for the accident investigation and reconstruction classes taught through the Missouri Safety Center at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.
On April 15, 1985, Allen was with Trooper Jimmie Linegar when they encountered David Tate, a member of a Neo-Nazi group called "The Order".
Jimmie was killed in the shooting while Allen was wounded 3 times.
Allen had to deal with the death of his fellow Trooper along with being wounded. He and Sharon's marriage was able to survive the post traumatic stress that they encountered as a result of the shooting and the aftermath that followed.
