...Coach Alissa began swimming competitively at the age of six with the Warren County YMCA in Monmouth, Illinois.She continued swimming with the YMCA team till she was eighteen.
During this time, she
was a four year qualifier for the IHSA State Swim Meet, with two straight final appearances her
junior and senior year. Alissa
was recruited to swim for the Falcons of Bowling Green State University
in the fall of 1998.She
competed for her
freshman year, red-shirted her
sophomore year due to injury, and returned to compete her
remaining three years for the Falcons.While at BGSU
primarily competed in the sprint freestyle and breaststroke events, along with contributions in the medley and freestyle relays.During her
senior year, she
qualified for the US Open and Spring Senior Nationals at the MAC Championships of 2003.She
continued to train under her
college coach, Keri Buff, the following year to prepare for the US Open and Senior National meet. After competing in the Senior National meet, Coach Alissa joined the BGSU Master's Swim Team and swam in the Short-Course Master's National Championship Meet held at IUPUI in April of 2004.
While there, she
finished 2nd place in the 50-yard freestyle and established a new national record in the 50-yard breaststroke, in the 19-24 age group, with the time of 28.29. Coach Alissa graduated from Bowling Green State University in May 2003 with a degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Biology.Coach Alissa is an ATC/L and provides sports medicine coverage while completing coursework toward a physical therapist assistant degree.
