Alice J. Pittman, 75 PORTLAND - Alice J. Pittman, 75, died at her residence Sunday after a long illness.She was born in Houlton, a daughter of John and Doris Adams Burton.She attended Houlton schools and was a graduate of Portland High School and of the Maine Medical Center School of Nursing.Alice was a deaconess at the First Baptist Church in Portland.She was very devoted to her family and church.She was concerned for the well being of other people.She delivered food to the needy and was also on the Membership Committee with the church.Alice was employed as a nurse at Maine Medical Center for over 25 years working in the Burn Department.She was very caring and dedicated to her patients, often spending time after her work shift with those who did not have families.She is predeceased by her first husband, Ernest J. Fournier in 1981; two brothers, Lawrence Burton and Donald Burton.She is survived by her husband, Dennis Pittman of Portland; five daughters, Carol Ann Rivera and her husband, Hector of Long Branch, NJ., Linda Ward of Windham, Madora Cain and her husband, Alton of Windham, Cece Champaign of Portland, Catherine Ann Leo and her husband, James of Saco; a son, John McDevitt of Palymera; two step children, Martha Robinson of Buxton and Dennis John Pittman of Lisbon; two aunts, Irene Adams of Portland and Edith Daniel of Westbrook; 16 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild.Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Jones, Rich, & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Portland, 360 Canco Road, with Rev. Arthur Evans Gay officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.
