It is speculated that sitting M.P. from Jessore-3 , Ali Reza Raju , may replace Tabibar Rahman Sarder , if not nominated for Jessore-1 Sharif Abdur Rakib , General Secretary , Jessore District Awami League may replace his party President , but as Sharif Rakib hails from Gopalganj voters may not favour him it is apprehended.Alhaj Abdul Huq , President Sarsa Thana Awami League is also seeking nomination. The sitting law maker Ali Reza Raju of Awami League is a strong contender for the seat but his position in the party was bit shaken due to the appearance of another aspirant who is new in the political arena of the country. He is Kazi Shahed Ahmed , Editor Daily Ajker Kagoj who has created a bit enthusiasm among the voters due to his mode of propaganda and lavish expenditure since ealy this year.He spent a huge amount of money to motivate the voters. It is opined that Ali Reza Raju will be nominated for Jessore-1 seat to make room for him.It is said he has received green signal from the AL high comamnd in his favour.Ali Reza Raju is a popular figure here for his amiable nature , personality and mass contact in grassroot level.Awami League may loose the seat if he is not nominated in Jessore-3 , it is the general sentiment.Ali Reza Raju was President of Jessore District-BNP but later joined Awami League a few months before 1996 general election and got party nomination. He defeated Tarikul Islam , BNP Central Vice-President and Minister of Post and Telecommunication in Begum Zia's cabinet and Jatiya Party's the then General Secretary and State Minister for Labour and Manpower Khaledur Rahman Tito in the Ershad Cabinet , who later joined BNP.This time the AL nominee will face stiff resistance from the joint forces of Tarikul Islam and Khaledur Rahman Tito whoever of them will get nomination from BNP or 4-party Alliance. The BNP will face acute problem in nominating a candidate in Jessore-3 because both Tarikul Islam and Khaledur Rahman Tito are strong contender for the seat and three are close friends. There is a feeling in the town that BNP may nominate Khaledur Rahman Tito in Jessore-3 while Tarikul Islam will contest from Jessore-4 as BNP has no strong candidate there.
