The man's body was found Tuesday in a field in Graton by Alfredo Sanchez
, a community worker with California Rural Legal Assistance.Detectives believe his
body may have been there for about two days.Sanchez said another member of the Graton community called him asking for help finding the man , whose daughter said she hadn't seen him since Saturday , when he left for work
The man was among dozens of workers who gather in the community of Graton seeking day jobs at local farms , wineries or other businesses , Sanchez
Detectives ran fingerprints through a state of Justice database , but came up with no matches , meaning he
has never been arrested in California , Rochester said.
Detectives may use other forensic methods to recover additional fingerprints and try a larger database search for possible matches.
In Graton , Sanchez
spent Wednesday morning talking to other day laborers about the killing and collecting donations to help return the man's body to Mexico for burial.
