Al Warrington specializes in insurance and reinsurance coverage litigation and alternative dispute resolution. His key areas of work include complex wording disputes; claims associated with underwriting and claims handling practices; fraud and material misrepresentation; broker negligence; and treaty formation and rescission issues. A significant portion of his work is devoted to providing insurer clients with coverage analysis and assisting in the early handling of difficult claims and the development of non-litigious strategies for early case resolution. His litigation philosophy is to try to resolve disputes as quickly and economically as possible, but that clients should be unwilling to pay a premium for settling claims, and by no means afraid to try cases.
Mr. Warrington has served as national coordinating counsel to a major U.S. marine insurer supervising coverage litigation nationwide. Prior to joining Rumrell, Wagner & Costabel LLP in August 1999, he was counsel to LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP, where he was resident in that law firm's London, England and Jacksonville, Florida offices. He managed the handling of claims throughout the United States. His connection to and familiarity with the London Market stems from the early 1990s, when as an associate in the civil litigation department of the Miami, Florida office of Kelly, Drye & Warren, he was seconded to the English law firm Clyde & Co. to assist with a large cross-border reinsurance coverage dispute.
Mr. Warrington received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1982 and Juris Doctor degree in 1985 from the University of Florida. He holds a Masters degree from King's College, University of London. He is a member of The International Association of Defense Counsel; The Maritime Law Association of the United States, The Florida Bar, and numerous federal courts. Classes of business include marine, commercial property and general liability, product liability, and environmental impairment liability. He has written and lectured on insurance topics in the United States and England.
