Gentle , JrVice_President , Technology Services SectorAl GentleAlfred F. Gentle , Jr. was born in Anniston , Ala. , and raised in Atlanta , Ga. In 1975 , he graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.Mr. Gentle received a Master of Business Administration from George Mason University in 1987.He is also a graduate of the U.S. Navy Transportation Management School and the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School.He served on active duty with the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves.Since joining SHERIKON , Inc. in 1990 , Mr. Gentle has held several positions , including Task Manager , Project_Manager , Division_Manager , and Group_Director.In January 1999 , he was promoted to his current position as Vice_President of the Technology Services Sector.He reports directly to the Senior_Vice_President , Science and Technology Business Unit , and provides management direction to the directors of the Integrated Technology Group and the Systems Integration Management Group.The Sector has over 200 personnel across the U.S. providing expertise and support in areas of telemedicine , project management , information systems design and development , health services management , and telecommunications.Prior_to joining SHERIKON , Mr. Gentle held various positions with contractors providing professional services to Navy programs.While Program_Director with Trandes Corporation ( 1988 - 1990 ) , he supervised the management of contracts for engineering services , automated logistics systems , program management support , and field activity logistics efforts.From 1985 to 1988 , as Supply Support Director with Resource Consultants , Inc. , he provided logistics support and training to the U.S. Navy Minesweep , Small Craft , and Auxiliary ship construction programs.Mr. Gentle was a Principal Analyst/Task Manager from 1982 to 1985 with Advanced Technology , Inc. , where he supported the Auxiliary Rescue and Salvage ( ARS-50 ) ship construction program.From 1979 to 1982 , he was a Senior_Associate with CACI , Inc.He supported the Saudi Naval Expansion Project , preparing Coordinated Shore-Based Material Allowance List requisitions , and assisted in the development of an Automated Inventory and Distribution System.While on active duty from 1975 to 1978 , Mr. Gentle was a Naval Supply Officer for the U.S. Navy.He served as the Assistant Supply Officer aboard USS TATTNALL and a supply inspector for the Readiness Support Group Mayport Supply Management Inspection Team.In his military endeavors , he received the Navy Commendation Medal.In 1995 , Mr. Gentle retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve with the rank of Commander.He is a member of the Reserve Officers Association and the Navy Supply Corps Foundation.Mr. Gentle enjoys fishing and camping.He lives with his wife , Karen , and their daughters , Becky and Shelly , in Columbia , Md.
