Dr. Alex Hillyard, CEO Dr. Hillyard has worked in the human services field for more than 25 years, including his most recent accomplishments as the Chief Executive Officer, Calgary Region Community Board Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
Since September 2005, Dr. Hillyard has ensured the Calgary Region's commitment of service to adults with developmental disabilities and their support networks.
He has worked to create partnerships within the greater community, collaborating on the development of Family Managed Supports in the Calgary Region, partnering on "Successful Transitions" with Alberta Children and Youth Services and assisting in the development of a Joint Service Initiative with the Calgary Health Region.
Previously, he spent seven years as the CEO for the Northeast Alberta Community Board for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
He holds a Masters of Educational Psychology degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta.
During his career, Dr. Hillyard has worked on the front lines and in executive management positions. He has worked tirelessly in developing community-based employment initiatives and on building the capacity of communities to include individuals with developmental disabilities.
In addition to this work, Dr. Hillyard has led many provincial projects and is currently participating in the Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) Provincial Workforce initiative to address the issue of ensuring a strong, viable workforce in the community rehabilitation sector.
