Alex was instrumental in helping the Literacy Council develop its first planned giving program. When we knew that we had received our first planned gift, Alex was the consultant we turned to for advice and planning. Under his supervision, a series of strategic communications and events were planned to begin cultivating approximately 100 donors for a planned gift.

Alex Comfort, Campaign Director Alex is President of Mountain Non-Profit Solutions, a consulting company he formed after 25 years as a professional fundraiser. He specializes in capital campaigns, agency and development audits, and a novel approach to planned giving and endowment growth. In his consulting capacity he is currently serving the Foundation for Excellence in Mental Health Care as Campaign Director.
He served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Development: Major and Planned Gifts at the University of North Carolina at Asheville for over 11 years. In his twenty seven years of development experience he has also been a capital campaign field director for a national firm, Director of Development for Covenant House New Orleans, and Vice President of the LSU Medical Center Foundation in New Orleans.
He was chosen "Outstanding Fund Raising Executive" twice: first for the AFP chapter of Greater New Orleans in 1995 and then for the western North Carolina AFP chapter in 2010. He has assisted numerous smaller nonprofits in agency growth, capital campaign and planned giving strategy throughout his career and also has extensive experience as a teacher and speaker about development - related topics. For the last 34 years, he has also been an Episcopal priest, serving both full time and part time in parish work.
His capital campaign experience spans his development career and he has directed 32 successful capital campaigns.
