Alejandro D. Lemus
Alejandro Lemus was born in Mexico City in 1958. A descendant of an artistic family, he is a third generation sculptor. Lemus started modeling in clay at a very early age, at 8 years old he was featured as a child prodigy on the popular mexican TV show "Siempre en Domingo" hosted by hosted by the famous Raul Velasco. Alejandro entered his father's atelier at age 11, where he began designing and sculpting marionettes as his Alejandro came to the United States in 1985 to work as a figurative sculptor in New York. His reputation as a fine sculptor preceded him, and in a short time he was designing and creating fine dolls and figurative sculptures for a number of leading companies and private collectors. During this time he was specializing in porcelain at the prestigious Parson's School of Design in New York City. In 1987 he moved to Chester County, PA, where he has his home and studio. The sculptures of Alejandro Lemus, strike us with a rare surprise, enchanted and new. A magic array of forms, follow the direction of a superb line of sculpture, creating a plastic dialogue, full of communication, and invisible technique. His sculptures reveal a spiritual energy which penetrates an intimate ego, a world closely adhere to emotional absolutes. The virtue of those artists whose expressions have the power to take us to a new dimension, besides unfolding an aesthetic message belongs to Lemus, his work clearly manifests this.
