(RYT200) began his
yoga practice in 2005, looking to help relieve soreness in his
lower back and to improve his
overall health and fitness.
Over the next few years Alec would practice under the guidance of Jennifer Rose Smith, Michele Coleman, and his teacher Jonathan Miles.
In 2010, Alec
completed the level 1 YogaFit Training.
In 2013 completed his
yoga teacher training, graduating from the Om On Teacher Training in May of 2013.
teachers Kelly Kostecki, Jane Bahneman, and Jonathan Miles he
continues to use his
practice to calm the "chitta vritta" the constant workings of the mind, which he
believes is the true purpose of yoga.
teaching style is to observe the steadiness and ease of each posture, while staying aligned in the body and present in the moment.
He currently serves as teaching ambassador for the non-profit organization Project Yoga Richmond, as well as offers weekly "karma" classes at his home, in a space lovingly known as "The Yoga Shack".
Al is part of a family of yogis, as both his
son Bryce and Daughter in law Stefanie, both teach yoga in Blacksburg, Va.
wife Stacy also practices yoga, teaches hoop dance, and is a photographer in Richmond, Va.
