Mr. Van Etten

for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Van Etten earned a B.A. degree from Yale University, and a juris doctor degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkley (1972).
Mr. Van Etten is a past President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Hawaii State Bar Association, and currently represents the State of Hawaii in the American Bar Association House of Delegates, where he serves on the Nominating Committee.
Mr. Van Etten has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Tort and Insurance Law at the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii.
He was a co-founder and the first Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association.
He is a past Vice Chair and currently Midyear Program Chair for the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
has written and spoken at more than 40 seminars or presentations on insurance coverage and bad faith claims since 1996.
Mr. Van Etten is also President of the Board of Directors of Hina Mauka, and a Member of the Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary of the American Bar Association (2008-2011).
