Appointed To WCF Board
Hartsdale, NY - Westchester Community Foundation
(WCF), founded in 1975 to build a permanent source of philanthropy in Westchester County, has appointed Alan Sorkin
of Chappaqua to its Board of Advisors.Sorkin is Managing Director, Institutional Equity Sales for Lehman Brothers, New York City, responsible for overseeing the Company's top 150 Global Equity Relationship Accounts as well as its Pension Services/Soft Dollar business.Prior to joining Lehman Brothers in 1995, Sorkin worked at American Express in a variety of positions and was ultimately responsible for running the risk portfolio of new card members' acquisitions.
In making the announcement, WCF Board Chair Elaine Schroeder, Esq. of Scarsdale, said that the Board was very pleased to welcome Alan
and looking forward to ‘his making a significant contribution to our organization's mission by leveraging the outstanding leadership skills he
has demonstrated both in his

, who coaches Little League
in Chappaqua, added, "I am honored to join this wonderful organization that has accomplished so much in building Westchester's communities while providing individuals with so many choices to contribute to charitable funds or create funds of their own."Sorkin holds a B.S. degree from the University of Massachusetts where he graduated cum laude in 1982.He attended Harvard Business School, graduating in 1988.Sorkin also spent four years serving in the U.S. Army as an officer, stationed in Wildflecken, Germany when the Berlin Wall was still a reality but would soon give way as the Cold War ended.
