Our founder and visionary, Alan R. Nagel
literally grew up in the business. As an infant he
traveled with his
parents and siblings across the country following the aftermath of hurricanes, tornados, hailstorms, floods and many other natural disasters. By age 8, he
was climbing roofs and learning how to asses damage as well as estimate the repairs.
During the off seasons, Owen, Alan
and family would engage in various home construction and remodeling projects, providing extensive knowledge of commercial and residential construction and restoration methods processes.
officially began his
career in claims in 1977 as a catastrophe adjuster. He
quickly advanced through the ranks and became a top adjuster for companies such as Crawford, Pilot (part of the first teams), Crocker Claims, and many more firms. He
wife Debra became one of the most productive Cat adjusting team in the country; exceeding all other adjusters performance standards, quality of work product, speed and efficiency, and customer (client) expectations.
Alan was one of the first Cat adjusters to use computerized estimating systems on an old Apple IIe (back when that was state of the art). He worked with several system developers in testing and refining both estimating systems and claims tracking / management systems. Alan became an accomplished arson investigator and the only adjuster (independent or staff) allowed into the Oklahoma Association of Arson Investigators.Â
In 1986, Alan open the Denver branch of Crocker Claim Service (Home office: Omaha, NE). Within two years, Denver had become the largest single operating branch of the organization. In 1990, Alan was promoted to the position of Regional Director, the first such position for Crocker Claims. Alan was responsible for both developing new branch offices in the western US, developing and training managers as well as field adjusters.
In 1990, Debra returned to the claims business as she
began providing Medical Case Management services and support.
Deb grew into a PIP / Bodily Injury casualty adjuster. Eventually her
skills were recognized by a national hospital organization who recruited her
as a regional Medical Malpractice Defense Investigator.
In 1991, Alan was approved by the Colorado Department of Insurance as a specialized adjuster trainer and licensor, for those individuals who could not pass the standard license requirements.
In March 1993 Alan
left the Crocker organization and on April 1, 1993 he
launched the AmeriClaim organization.  Starting with offices in Denver and Colorado Springs, he
quickly added offices in Breckinridge, CO; Grand Junction, CO; and Cheyenne, WY. Together, they grew the company to more than 88 service offices, developed a division for Catastrophe Services, Risk Management Services and the handling of Large Losses on a national level.
In 1996 , Alan
began offering services to several different Insurance Defense Law firms in the Denver area, helping to defend Insurance Carriers as an expert witness in the proper adjusting and claims management activities of a claims professional.
In October 2008, Alan Nagel
were awarded a portion of a Federal Contract to FEMA. It was Alan’s job to provide a team of technical experts (General Adjusters) to the National Flood Insurance Program.
Over the years, Alan
has provided various consulting services to a number of institutions and organizations seeking to improve the process and effectiveness of Risk Management and claims handling. This included institutions of higher learning, churchs (nationally, conference and local) organizations, municipalities, professional associations, industry associations and trucking groups.
From 1993 â€" 2011, Alan
and Debra were innovators and leaders of one of the most successful and promising independent adjusting firms in the country.Â
