Levy, MD, is a sports medicine physician with 50 years of experience treating athletic injuries and joint problems. He was the founder and chief of the Department of Sports Medicine at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, New Jersey.He was also the medical director for the US Olympic Research & Treatment Center and one of the founders of the Fitness and Back Institute in New Jersey.Dr Levy served on the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and is currently serving on the Committee on Sports Injuries for the Medical Society of New Jersey. Dr Levy has been the team physician for the New York Football Giants of the National Football League for 28 years. He also spent 18 years as the team physician for the New Jersey Nets of the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association.In addition, he was the original team physician for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League. In 1994, Dr Levy received the first Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Medicine from the American College of Sports Medicine, Greater New York Chapter, and, in 2000 and 2001, was chosen by New York Magazine for inclusion in the Best Doctors in New York issue.Currently, Dr Levy has a sports medicine practice in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.He is the coauthor of Sports Injury Handbook: Professional Advice for Amateur Athletes, The Golf Injury Handbook and The Tennis Injury Handbook.He has been a lecturer in the Department of Orthopedics at the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University, New York.He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, New York.Dr Levy has indicated that he is a retained consultant for SleepTech.
