Our Advisory Board - Hybrid Pedals
President and Chief Executive Officer
Alan's entrepreneurial journey began when Alan started a successful business addressing a need among on-campus students for an easy way to get their clothes washed or dry cleaned From then his life has evolved to become a series of entrepreneurial undertakings, each offering its own set of challenges and opportunities to grow.
After graduating from college, Alan found himself moving back to the DC area to take over the family business: Mario's Pizza in Arlington, VA. In the late 1980's, Levine was the Vice President of Commercial Operation for Mount Vernon Reality, the largest independent real estate brokerage firm at the time.
Branching out from there, he started Doctor Delivery, which was the first restaurant food delivery business in the region, creating a viable business model that companies like Takeout Taxi and others soon copied with great success.
In his search for an economical and environmentally friendly delivery platform, Alan discovered the electric bike.
Soon afterward, he founded Hybrid Pedals, the premier electric bike store in the Washington, DC area which has become well known for its quality bikes and excellent customer service.

I was just getting started in the electric bike market when I first went to Hybrid Petals.

was trying to move.

had me ride a few different bikes in that style and was totally low pressure.
was great about answering any question, no matter how simple.
Said to give him a call or come back if I decided to buy or had any more questions.
I was so impressed by his
approach ...and his
bikes!... that I decided to put a deposit down that day.
talked me out of some add on's that I was considering, suggesting I wait until I see what I may want after riding for a while.
was out of stock on the bike that I wanted, other than the demo, and personally emailed me as he
received updates on the shipment.
It only took a few days to get the bike in and I picked it up today.

"E-bikes represent the logical evolution in police patrol," said Alan Levine, CEO of Hybrid Pedals LLC.
"Electric bikes could be the decisive element for gaining big savings on tight law enforcement budgets," said Levine
"Look around you: Gas is over $4 a gallon in most cities.
Traditional bikes are nice, but patrolling on a bike all day long, day after day, is simply too physically demanding for police patrol work, leading to fatigue, injury and disability.
As for Segways -- with their bulky weight, their 12-mph top speed, 10-mile top range, and delicate disposition -- aren't exactly ideal for fighting crime or responding to emergencies where people must be evacuated quickly."
Many electric bikes can travel on average a distance of 20 miles on a flat surface, climb hills and inclines (slightly less range), and reach speeds of 20 mph on battery power alone, said Levine
"The versatility of electric bikes for law enforcement, security, and emergency responders is impressive," said Levine
