Alan E. Lager is an Engineering graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, and has been a leading industry Configuration and Data Management spokesman for over thirty years. Alan is currently the Electronics Industries Alliance (EIA) Team Leader for EIA Standard 836, Configuration Management Data Interoperability. He was the team leader and principal author of ANSI/EIA 649, National Consensus Standard for CM, and he also authored MIL-HDBK-61, Configuration Management Guidance, and a Data Management Handbook under contract to DoD. Alan is a past chairman of the EIA's Government Electronics and Information Technology Association (GEIA) G-33 Committee on Data and Configuration Management, was Annual Conference Chairman, and served as Panel Leader 12 times. Alan E. Lager is an independent consultant doing business as MLR Associates in Alexandria, Virginia. Mr. Lager has been a leading industry spokesman on configuration and data management for the past 20 years. He is a member of the DOD's Configuration Management Advisory Group, Vice-Chairman of the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) Panel on Configuration and Data Management, and is Task Leader for the new Industry CM Standard, IS-649. He is also Vice-Chairman of the CALS/IPT CDM Task Group. An engineering graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Mr. Lager is the author of many papers and symposia on CM. He is the 1988 recipient of the EIA Engineering Department's "Distinguished Contribution Award" and the 1995 recipient of the E.J. Nucci Award for Engineering Excellence.
