One person not on that list is the Trump Organization's general counsel, Alan Garten.

"Mr. Trump considers this to be a very serious matter and has authorized our legal team to take all necessary and appropriate actions to bring an immediate halt to your blatan and unauthorized use of his trademark," Trump Organization attorney Alan Garten writes in a letter obtained by the HuffingtonPost. Despite Garten's bluster, Trump has no grounds for legal action, according to law professor Eugene Volokh.

Page 2 of 4 - When questioned by The Associated Press about three Trump-linked businesses pitched to the middle class, Trump's attorney, Alan Garten, said the vitamin company and a real estate school called Trump University were successes and that Trump had no ties beyond speaking engagements with a third company, a phone business called ACN. Trump's lawyer, Garten, said plenty of salespeople did "very well" and that, anyway, Trump's role was limited to licensing his name. Garten, Trump's lawyer, said students loved the school, now called the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative. Garten sent the AP sworn statements from some of these students - "great learning experience," led by "fantastic" teachers, wrote one - and described the dissatisfied ones as an insignificant minority, given the 80,000 who attended the free or paid classes. "I am sure you could find in any business or business venture a handful of people who weren't satisfied," he said. He said they had "10,000 surveys online from 10,000 students, all of whom gave it the highest marks." The New York lawsuit is pending. Garten said Trump stands "100 percent" behind his words to The Wall Street Journal.

But, oh, right, Trump' lawyer who originally sent the letter is Alan Garten, the general counsel for Trump's business. The Federal Elections Committee, however, forbids candidates from using their corporate resources for their campaigns. So the PAC has now filed a complaint against Trump and Garten with the FEC. And they informed Garten of all of this in a snark-filled letter that was promptly given to the Miami Herald.

Alan Garten, the Trump Organization's general counsel and executive vice president, did not make a direct threat of immediate action. He did, though, lay down broad parameters for what would trigger a lawsuit.
