PRINCETON, NJ (May 30, 2003)- Sarnoff Corporation, the Princeton-based technology development and innovation services company, has announced the promotion of Dr. Alan M. Braun of Lawrenceville, NJ to Technology Leader, Monolithic Photonics.Dr. Braun
holds two patents in his
field, and has authored or co-authored over 20 technical publications. His work at Sarnoff has included the development and applications of low-noise semiconductor modelocked lasers and ultra-short-pulse photonic sources, which he has shown to be suitable for advanced radio frequency (RF) and microwave systems. He
currently leads multiple Sarnoff projects to develop advanced technologies for photonic sampling, chip-scale atomic clocks, and low-cost-per-function DWDM optical telecommunications components."Alan is internationally recognized for his expertise in the science and use of modelocked lasers and ultra-short photonic pulses," said Joseph Abeles, Technical Director, Optoelectronics.
is a winner of the Sarnoff Technical Achievement Award. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and of the Optical Society of America. Dr. Braun holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. He received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, performing graduate work in the University's Center for Ultrafast Optical Science (CUOS).He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France.
