Al Mataban's professional career is deeply rooted in the telecommunications and hospitality industries, working with the leading technologies that helped shape his vision for bluemountainnetworks.
As an engineer at Hitachi, he saw what helped make their PBX's become the leading choice of hotels. Soon afterwards, he excelled as an engineer at the Nortel-spin-off Elastic Networks, supporting Darwin Networks and CAIS Internet who were the two first-to-market ASPs to install high speed internet access in thousands of hotels across the U.S. Broadening his expertise in the broadband space, he was one of two individuals at Paradyne who brought xDSL to more hotels worldwide, surpassing Cisco in the process. Al worked with channel partners and distributors as the subject matter expert on the technology, the hotel market and implementation best practices. Broadening his knowledge into product management, Al traveled to China and Singapore to work with contract manufacturers for the design and production of VoIP and wireless devices at start-up Sigpro. His design on a full-screen VoIP telephone for hotels was later licensed to TeleMatrix (now Cetis) for future production. He has been able to use his knowledge of VoIP technology and of the hotel market to consult other market leaders, recently assisting Guest-Tek and NEC with their IP PBX market launch. Al is drawing from his two years' experience of working with CLECs and independent telephone companies to develop the proprietary software that will revolutionize communications service in the hospitality industry. In addition to getting his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ASU, Al also brings a wealth of sales success from AT&T, Pacific Bell and as one of the top account managers at start-up Centex Telemanagement.
