Akimi Gibson is Deputy Executive Director for Strategy and Content Integration at NAEYC.
The newest member of the executive team, she manages the Professional Development, Editorial, Publications, Digital Content, Marketing & Communications, and Sales departments.
Prior to joining NAEYC, Gibson worked at Scholastic, Inc., where she held several senior leadership positions.
During her time with Scholastic, Gibson served as the vice president of the Classroom and Library, Early Childhood, and Primary Education Group divisions.
Her responsibilities included overseeing the development of educational products for classrooms, schools, libraries, and early childhood programs.
Gibson previously served as senior vice president and chief education officer at ThinkBox, Inc., where she oversaw the development of print and web-based learning products for children.
Prior to her work at ThinkBox, Inc., Gibson held senior positions at SchoolSuccess.net and ParentPartners, LLC, where she led content and design efforts to create several websites for parents and educators of young children.
She has also held senior management positions at several other companies including Simon and Schuster and the Walt Disney Company.
