The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) based in Preston, UK has conferred upon Mr. Ajeenkya D. Patil an Honorary Doctorate as a recognition of his outstanding work in the fields of education & healthcare on Friday, 13 July 2007 at Preston.

work as both an entrepreneur and an educationalist. Ajeenkya was born on 22 December 1971.
As a child, he
had a curiosity for technology and innovation.After graduating from the University of Mumbai, he went on to complete his business degree at Richmond College and an advanced course in marketing at the London School of Economics.

In 2005, he was nominated as Chairman of Central Board of Workers' Education (CBWE) under the Union Ministry of Labour, for the Government of India with status and privileges as a Minister of State.As its Chairman, he has set out to develop a sense of patriotism among the work force to ensure more intelligent participation by the work force; to develop greater understanding of the personal and social issues; to work with trade unions through conscious members and responsible internal leadership; to strengthen cooperative movement and self help techniques and to bring out the hidden creative capacities of work force.
In 2006, Ajeenkya
accepted an invitation to set up an International School
and a University under Royal Charter extended by the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras al Khaimah, in UAE, who was impressed with his
visionary leadership and success in creating excellence in education.In February 2007, he
was nominated to International Baccalaureate Organisation Development Council
based in Geneva, Switzerland.Recently, he was also invited by University of Mumbai to become its Senate member.He is also trustee of many educational and philanthropic trusts and societies. He

has encouraged research and development in the fields of biotechnology and bioinformatics.Through research encouraged by him, many farmers in Kolhapur have benefited by an increase in production of sugarcanes and decrease in cost of production.He
encourages use of natural and eco-friendly technologies in agriculture.
Even at this young age, he
spends more time in discharging his
social responsibilities than in business, philanthropy is close to his
heart.Ajeenkya is a member of Chakrayu Foundation engaged in charities for the poor and the needy in the State of Maharashtra.
Social causes close to his
heart are, among others, eradication of child labour, female child education, upliftment of the physically challenged. He is a member of Vijay Merchant Centre of the disabled.
