Ahmed Ismail, Trustee
Ahmed Ismail is serving his third term on our school board, having been elected in 2004, 2008 and 2014. He brings a unique perspective to our board as a result of being a student, a parent of students, a resident and a business owner in Grosse Pointe. He attended Poupard, Parcells, Grosse Pointe High (now GP South), then was transferred to GP North when it was opened, becoming a member of its first graduating class in 1970. Mr. Ismail has been a member of the Grosse Pointe business community for over 45 years, first at Studio Camera, then Speedi Photo and now works with his wife, Mary Ann, at The Portrait Place on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods. In addition to his work at The Portrait Place, Mr. Ismail serves as president of the residential community developer Clarkston Holdings, Ltd. His commitment to community service has extended to him previously serving on the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Education Board and as a member of the Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission. His three sons attended our schools, with two of them graduating from Grosse Pointe North High School. Mr. Ismail has studied the International Baccalaureate Programme at the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education, twice visited schools in China as a guest of the Chinese government, is the graduate of over 40 certification courses in school system governance and operation and has served on the Board Member Curriculum Planning Committee of the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB). He is the recipient of MASB's coveted Master Board Member and Public Schools Advocacy Specialist Awards. Mr. Ismail welcomes comments and/or questions from the community. Ahmed Ismail, Trustee Ahmed Ismail was elected to the School Board in June 2004.He attended Poupard Elementary School, Parcells Middle School, Grosse Pointe South High School and then graduated as a member of the charter class of Grosse Pointe North High School.Mr. Ismail presently serves as president of Grosse Pointe Woods-based Speedi Photo and Digital Imaging Center, as president of a commercial construction consulting firm, PHC Construction Corporation, and as president of a real estate development firm, Clarkston Holdings, Ltd.In addition to his School Board service, Mr. Ismail serves as a member of the Education Board of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, as a member of the City of Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission, and as chairman of the Architectural Review Board of Independence Township's Avington Park residential community.Since joining the School Board in June 2004, Mr. Ismail has been awarded the Certified Board Member Award and the Award of Merit by the Michigan Association of School Boards.Ahmed Ismail

Trustee Ahmed Ismail said that other districts he spoke to that used the firm were happy with School Exec Connect's work.
"I've seen them in action and I think they handle themselves professionally," Ismail said. "I'm happy we're moving forward," Ismail said of taking the step of choosing the search firm.
"I really appreciate the time that you took to reach out ... and seek everyone's input," Trustee Ahmed Ismail said.
"I think you did a great job at putting this together." He also thanked Deputy Superintendent for Business and Operations Christian Fenton for his assistance. "They were very helpful to me," Ismail said of Summerfield and Fenton.
