This year, we’re lucky to have Agnes Fuss as our judge.
She studied art at Kennesaw State College in Georgia, learned techniques of the old masters from Chris Didomizio, and has taken color workshops from Daniel Greene. Her artwork is amazing! She teaches classes for the Cumberland Art Society, and was even chosen to paint a Christmas ornament to represent Tennessee’s 6th District for the 2008 White House Christmas Tree.

Margaret Eads , Betsy Fox , Agnes Fuss and John Parrish , now members of the Cumberland Art Society -- and also members of a mutual admiration society -- will present together a collection of their work at Cookeville Art Center , an exhibit which opens today.Agnes Fuss was originally from St. Johns , Newfoundland. After living in several different localities , she and her husband moved to Gainesboro about eight years ago. They have four children.Fuss has always been interested in pictures and colors.Since the age of four or five , I would sit for hours and look at magazines and be fascinated with the colors and the pictures , she said.My grandfather was a big influence and supporter of my interests.I remember sitting on his knee and watching him draw..Fuss has no formal training in art education , but her deep interest in the arts sparked a curiosity to read and consume as much information as possible. She attends as many workshops as possible and has become proficient enough to give her own workshops.Every workshop that I give is a learning experience for me , she said.Fuss is a member of the Cumberland Art Society and usually paints in oils in the style of the old artists.Occasionally , she works in watercolor and pastels.
