Adi E. Mehta, MD, FRCPC, FACE, was born in Nairobi, Kenya. He received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, where he also did his internal medicine residency. Dr. Mehta completed his Endocrinology fellowship, as well as a clinical and research fellowship at McGill University in Montréal, Canada. He joined the faculty of medicine at the University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as an Assistant Professor, and later became Associate Professor. Subsequently, Dr. Mehta moved to the United States and joined the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic in the Department of Endocrinology.
He is a member of numerous societies in both the U.S. and Canada, including the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Mehta is listed in Best Doctors in America® 2003-2004 and 2005-2006. His extensive research career includes over 160 scientific presentations and over 200 publications, mostly in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Mehta's scientific interests include studies in diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases and reproductive physiology and medicine.
Among his numerous accomplishments is his ability to teach at all levels, including clinical, basic science and research. Dr. Mehta is a well-traveled lecturer. In particular, he excels as a role model for residents and fellows. Dr. Mehta sees himself, most importantly, as a clinician. What gives him the most pleasure is the day-to-day interaction with patients whom he treats with care and respect and is considered frequently by them not only as a respected clinician but also as a friend and confidante.

HOUSTON, TX.-May 18, 2009- Adi E. Mehta, MD, FRCPC, FACE, was presented the Outstanding Clinical Endocrinologist Award from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) at its Eighteenth Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress in Houston, on Thursday, May 14, 2009.

The AACE Outstanding Clinical Endocrinologist Award is given annually to an AACE member in recognition of dedicated and compassionate care provided to patients with endocrine diseases, exceptional knowledge and expertise in the field of clinical endocrinology, and active advocacy of AACE's mission in both professional and public environments.
"Any distinctions that I achieve are due to the Grace of God, the support of my phenomenal family and the supreme distinction of my teachers, mentors, colleagues and students," Dr. Mehta said. "They raised me on their shoulders. They carried me!"
Dr. Mehta is a faculty member in the Department of Endocrinology at the Cleveland Clinic. He has been a member of AACE since 1996. Dr. Mehta is also a member of the American Diabetes Association and The Endocrine Society. His scientific interests include studies in diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases and reproductive medicine.
