Mr. Adesh Jain's contribution to Project Management is having an immense impact globally. He is the firstnon-European to become the President and Chairman, CoD of IPMA in 2005 & 2007 and Dy Chairman, CoD of IPMA in 2008, since its formation in 1965. IPMA comprises of 50 Members Associations from all over the world. He is now the Vice Chair (Technical) of the International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) which comprises of 50 countries from all over the world. Mr. Jain is truly the Father of Project Management in India. He has contributed immensely not only in India but also globally in strengthening project management movement. He was elected as the first non-European President of IPMA in 2005 in IPMA's history of 48 years and Chairman of IPMA in 2007. Till date he is the only non-European to have this distinction. In 2008, he also became the first Asian to become President of the International Construction Project Management Association (ICPMA) incorporated in Switzerland. He is currently Member of the Advisory Board of the International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) comprising of 50 countries from all over the world.
Mr. Jain worked in Canada from 1967 to 1972 in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Super Computing. His love for India and passion to build India to become Computer Savvy Nation brought him back to India in 1973. He was then involved in computerization at Bokaro Steel Limited. He was one of the key persons to introduce Process Control Computerization in Bokaro Steel. Later in 1975, he moved to the Corporate Office of Bharat Heavy Electicals Limited (BHEL) in New Delhi in charge of computerization and project management. He became the Head of one of the Divisions of BHEL in 1978 at a young age of 33 years. In 1979, while in BHEL, he could bring large scale of mainframe computers at various locations of BHEL and interconnected. Mr. Adesh Jain was the key architect of establishing Integrated Project Management System (IPMS), a system through which the operations of BHEL were unified. In 1982, he became the Chairman of the Heavy Engineering Computer Group comprising of 22 large Public Sector Undertakings in the Ministry of Heavy Industry.
In 1997 Mr. Jain received the " 1997 Distinguished Contribution Award" from PMI, USA for laying a strong foundation of PM globally and is the first person from outside North American to receive this prestigious award. He is also a recipient of the First Global Project Management Leadership Award in 2008. He was one of 6 project management leaders elected to the Steering Committee for the Global Project Management Forum in Boston in 1996.
Mr. Jain received his Bachelor of Science in 1962 and was topper in his college and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (1965) with Distinction from one of the foremost global institutes - the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He received his Masters of Engineering in Control Systems (1967) from Carleton University, Canada. Adesh was named a Fellow of IPMA in 2006. He is also a Fellow of CIOB, UK, of Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), CSI, India and AIMA, India. He was appointed as Honorary Chairman of the China Project Management Committee (CPMC) in 2006.

Adesh Jain He was invited by NASA to address the participants of 'PM Challenge - 2010' in Galveston, Texas, USA in Feb 2010 to speak on 'Breaking boundaries; the key to innovation'. The NASA Conference was attended by over 2000 scientists from all over the world. Mr. Jain was again invited by NASA to speak at the NASA PM Conference in February 2012 in Florida. This has brought India a great recognition.
