Meet Rev (Mrs) Adelaide Heward-Mills. Mrs. Adelaide Heward-Mills, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills' wife of almost twenty years, a mother of four children, namely, David, Joshua, Daniella and Paula, is a lawyer by profession.
At an early age of 9, young Adelaide
accepted Jesus Christ as her
Lord and personal saviour, sensing even then the call on her
life to be a missionary. In High School, she
commitment to the Lord and became a Bible study reader in the Christian fellowship of the school.Mrs. Heward-Mills
says that in spite of this she
had certain questions that challenged her
faith. It was at this same period of unanswered questions that she
came into contact with the then Brother Dag, who revealed to her
certain profound Biblical truths she
had never known. These included the Holy Ghost baptism and the "7 Great Principles".This dramatically changed her
perspective of Christianity.
By 1985, friendship between Sister Adelaide and Brother Dag had resulted in courtship.Their relationship matured and blossomed as the years went by.In her
own words, " our relationship was a result of his
spiritual uprightness, courage, boldness, powerful and yet caring personality.Above all she
adds, "I was slain by his
charm and good looks".
The first lady of L.C.I. had over the years held a personal conviction of her
own that God had a better plan for her
took the decision to join her
husband in full-time ministry.She
believes that her
vision is clearer now and she
has even become more ministry-minded and sees her
husband as her
mentor and favourite Bible teacher in the whole wide world.
Being a pastor's wife, a woman in ministry and a mother, she
says, there are very challenging roles and she
sometimes feels the pressure, but sincerely believes that God gives sufficient grace in whatever area of one's call.It is this amazing grace that has brought her
this far.In the area of ministry, Mrs. Heward-Mills
is the leader of the following groups in the Lighthouse Chapel International
is easy-going and a natural people-person.She
is affectionately called Sister Maame. To the L.C.I. family, Sister Maame is gifted to know the right thing to say at all times; she
is blessed in her
ability to relate with people of different personalities and backgrounds. She
knows how to share the love of God abroad. She
does all this, not only because she
is a Bishop's wife, but also because she
knows God personally and loves Him dearly.
The whole Lighthouse family knows it is blessed to have such a precious gift.To the first lady of the Lighthouse Chapel International
, it is not a small thing that God has chosen to separate her
has graciously brought her
to Himself to do the service of His
House and His
House alone and has brought her
the great honour of sanding before His
precious people to minister!She
could not have asked for anything else.
