VIENNA, 15 January (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Guinea to the United Nations (Vienna), Abraham Doukoure, presented his credentials on Tuesday to Steinar B. Bjornsson, Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), and the United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention (ODCCP).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Doukoure was Ambassador to Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and the Vatican.Between 1998 and 2000, he served at the Foreign Ministry in Guinea.From 1996 to 1998 he was Ambassador to Nigeria, Benin and Togo and from 1992 to 1996 National Director of the Integration Economique.Between 1987 and 1992 Mr. Doukoure was National Director of Political and Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Doukoure joined Guinea's Foreign Service as Second Secretary at Guinea's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York in 1975.A year later he became First Secretary and ChargJ d'Affairs of the Mission.In 1979 Mr. Doukoure was named Chief of Protocol of President of Guinea's office.Between 1980 and 1984 he was Ambassador to Canada.Upon his return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 he served as Counselor to the Foreign Minister.
Mr. Doukoure earned his degrees from the University of Algiers.He also spent several years studying in Germany.He speaks French, English, German, Spanish, Arabic and several Guinean local languages.
He is married with five children.
