Municipality inaugurates jogging track on the Arabian Gulf Street | Abu Dhabi Living | Everything Abu Dhabi
While inaugurating the jogging track on Arabian Gulf St, engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Infrastructure and Municipal Assets Sector, said: "This initiative comes in the context of the Municipality's efforts to serve the needs of the community in practicing recreational and sports activities and accordingly contribute to raising the standard of living in the city, maintain health and physical fitness and create an attractive environment that encourages the practice of jogging and benefiting from the resources in place."
"Currently, there are other two tracks being constructed; one at Al Mushrif, in the surroundings of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed School for Boys, extending 1100 meters and is scheduled for opening next January, and the other is at Zafarana on Street 29 rounding the 6th of August School for Girls, extending 900 meters, which will be opened in the first quarter of 2011," added Al Shamsi. The overall objective of providing these facilities marks the continuous efforts made by the Municipality to live up to its social responsibility and showcase the importance of these amenities as an attractive venue for families to practice sport in a clean environment with a host of diverse options," concluded Al Shamsi.

Commenting on the opening, Abdullah Al Shamsi, executive director of infrastructure and municipal assets sector at the Abu Dhabi Municipality, said: "We expect the journey time between Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Mina Road or the Corniche and back to be 20 minutes."
"We have seen a lot of opportunities to improve ourselves in terms of sustainability," said Abdullah Al Shamsi, executive director of municipal infrastructure and assets at Abu Dhabi Municipality.
"One of those opportunities is lighting. We have a programme for the entire city to be really sustainable in terms of lighting." Mr Al Shamsi was speaking at the Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy Summit, an industry event in the capital that finishes today.
Mohammad Omar Abdulla of the Abu Dhabi Economic Department will open the conference with a keynote on Abu Dhabi's economic achievements and thrusts for 2013 and Abdullah Al Shamsi, Executive Director, Infrastructure Sector, Abu Dhabi Municipalit,y will present an overview of the strategy, objectives, programmes and projects delivered across the emirate's municipalities.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Shamsi, on this occasion, reiterated the commitment of H.H. Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of UAE towards the rehabilitation efforts for the earthquake affectees in Kashmir and said that H.H. Shaikh Khalifa Hospitals in Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot will go a long way in providing health care facilities for the victims of earthquake as well as the population of Kashmir and will be the landmarks in AJK. He further said that the project will be carried-out on a fast track basis, to be completed in a short span of 18 months. He informed that the designs have been finalized in a very short time by Osmani & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. and appreciated the efforts of the consultants for preparing excellent designs on high standard level & in a very short time.
