Description:

Banshee Bikes the company may have gotten its start in 2001, but there's a history that can be traced back to the birth of mountain biking. The sport got its start in Marin County by Gary Fisher, but not too far behind were a group of guys that were introducing mountain biking to Canada. Now referred to as the British Columbians, one of them was Pippin Osborne, who went on to found Syncros and later Banshee Bikes. Partnering up with him was Tim Whyte and Casey Botman, who came over from Holland with a degree in bicycle mechanics 30 years ago and started wrenching at Bow Cycle before starting his own distribution company - which funny enough distributed Fisher bikes. Casey was the catalyst to start us off, as Bow Cycle was looking for another frame to serve their customers growing performance demands. Before there was a company there was already a bike. It didn't have a name at that time but later "Side Show Bob" stuck for a brief period. When the realization that the demand was growing then Banshee the brand was born and the bike was renamed the Scream. Jay MacNeil joined the company a few years later in 2003 after working with Pippin at Syncros to manage operations and Keith a few years after that to take over where Pip left off. Much has transpired since those formative years and we look forward to putting many more years into the history books.
