The Wisconsin County Police Association (WCPA) is committed to representing the best interests of county law enforcement across this great state. In this endeavor the Wisconsin County Police Association wishes to recognize and endorse those individuals who promote the best interests of county law enforcement. The Wisconsin County Police Association remains Wisconsin's only statewide organization to exclusively represent the interest of county law enforcement officers. The WCPA has maintained a membership of approximately 1,600 full-time members representing nearly every county in the state. We continue to be an important and effective representative of county law enforcement and its officers. The WCPA awarded Representative John Ainsworth-R (Shawano) with a plaque commemorating all he has done to advance the cause of highway safety issues in the Wisconsin State Legislature. Ainsworth has been at the forefront of many important pieces of legislation which have greatly improved the safety of Wisconsin citizens on our state's roadways. Representative Ainsworth has been and continues to be a leader in the law enforcement community on transportation safety issues. The WCPA is presenting this award to Rep. John Ainsworth in recognition of his continued service and leadership in the law enforcement community. WCPA Executive Director, Bob Wierenga, along with the WCPA lobbyist, Ramie Leonard, look on as Governor Doyle signs SB 260 into law. SB 260 increases penalties for strangulation and suffocation offenses. The WCPA was a strong supporter of this legislation and worked with several other law enforcement groups and families of victims of these types of crimes.
