For more than 80 years, the Biloxi Lions Club has compiled an illustrious record of community service. Our members take justifiable pride in reviewing this record, of course, but present day needs leave little time for resting on our laurels. Lionism is a vibrant influence in our community. Our membership is desirous to see that there is a broader understanding of Lions activities and, hopefully, to awaken new enthusiasm for the needs we have yet to meet. Our committees regularly schedule examinations and the fitting of glasses for the sight impaired, collection of discarded eye-glasses and hearing aids, and the distribution of them to the needy. Lions encourage eye donations for transplantation through the Mississippi Lions Eyebank. Lions also arrange surgery and prosthetics through Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service, which has recently opened a branch right here on the Gulf Coast through the work of this Club and Lion Dr. David Judge. Lions are active in drug awareness and the prevention of addiction. Our Sadler Scholarship aids those worthy to further their education. We will also be presenting the "Lester Bridges Scholarship", named for one of our beloved late members, with an emphasis toward visually and hearing impaired individuals. The Biloxi Outstanding Citizen, the Mother of the Year, and Father of the Year Awards each annually recognize a member of our community who has made life better for all of us. Our participation in the Mississippi Lions Sea and Sun Camp for Blind and Visually Impaired children, continuing work with the Boys and Girls State Programs and Leadership Conferences, and the Mississippi Lions All State Band show our efforts to benefit the youth of Biloxi. Our Club Motto is: "IN BILOXI, WE SERVE!" LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization. There are almost a million and a half members serving in more than 44,600 clubs in 189 countries and geographical areas. While we are dedicated to helping the visually and hearing impaired, as a Club we are interested in many things. The Lion's International Objects and Code of Ethics listed below are more relevant now than ever before.
