What is the ZoomInfo Contact Contributor and what are the system requirements?
The ZoomInfo Contact Contributor is a lightweight software application that Microsoft Outlook users must install to share business contacts and take part in the ZoomInfo Community Edition program. This software works with Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010 or 2013 (32-bit) on a system running Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP or Windows Vista. Outlook must be used regularly to send and receive business email. Sorry, but Outlook 64-bit, Outlook Express, and Mac computers are not currently supported. .

If you use Google Apps for Business to send and receive business emails, click here for more information about sharing your business contacts through Google Apps for Business.

If you do not use a supported operating system or Google Apps for Business, you can still get access to ZoomInfo! Consider a subscription to ZoomInfo Professional Edition. Top

What information does the ZoomInfo Contact Contributor submit?
The ZoomInfo Contact Contributor shares only information about business contacts. Contacts with consumer email address (such as those from Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) are not submitted. Information submitted includes contact name, job title, company, business email address and business phone number.Top

Will my contacts know ZoomInfo received their information from me?
Absolutely not. ZoomInfo does not identify the source of the information in the ZoomInfo Database. Top

Do the business contacts I share have control over their ZoomInfo profiles?
Everyone has complete control over what ZoomInfo publishes about them (that’s one of the ways we’re unique). Before we publish any information you contribute, we send an email message to the contact. This message explains how the person can control what we publish or opt out of the database if that is what they prefer. Top

What’s the difference between ZoomInfo Community Edition and FreshContacts?
In 2009 and 2010, some ZoomInfo users participated in a market test called FreshContacts that provided them with a limited subscription to ZoomInfo's premium service in exchange for their business contacts contributed through Outlook. Based on the success of that market test, ZoomInfo expanded this offering to provide contributors with ongoing access to the ZoomInfo Database through ZoomInfo Community Edition. Top

How will ZoomInfo Community Edition help me get business done faster?
ZoomInfo Community Edition members can search the entire ZoomInfo Database, which includes five million businesses (from start-ups to blue chips) and 60 million employees (including mid-managers). You can also access contact information for the people you want to reach. Every day, ZoomInfo adds 2,000 businesses and 30,000 employees and updates 15,000 businesses and 300,000 employees. These highly accurate profiles go beyond basic business card information. For example, employee profiles provide work history, education and 10 years of Web references (honors, board affiliations, etc.) including items not available elsewhere online.

ZoomInfo Community Edition enables members to search across all of this data and better understand an individual or company. Top

Wait a minute! Isn't sharing business contacts a violation of privacy?
Glad you asked! Submitting your business contacts in not a violation of privacy, because unlike personal information (your home address, home phone number, personal email address) and behavioral information (what websites you’ve viewed, what products you’ve purchased), business information isn’t private. Businesses depend on being able to efficiently contact each other to further commerce.

When you take part in the ZoomInfo Community Edition program, you will only contribute business information to the ZoomInfo Database. In addition, every contact you share will receive an email message from ZoomInfo before we publish the information, giving the person the opportunity to control what information appears. Top

Can I pick and choose the business contacts I want to share?
No. When you take part in the ZoomInfo Community Edition program, you agree to share all of the business contacts in your email database, including names and email addresses found in email headers and job titles, company names, phone numbers, and locations found in email signatures. Personal contacts that are connected with ISPs and free email accounts will be ignored by our system. If you would like to access the ZoomInfo Database without sharing your business contacts, consider a subscription to ZoomInfo Professional Edition Top

Does the ZoomInfo Contact Contributor read my email messages?
No need to worry about that. Our technology looks only at address book entries, email headers, and email signatures to capture basic business contact information. Top

Why is ZoomInfo offering free access in exchange for my business contacts?
We are on a mission to map the business landscape in near real time . . . and dramatically improve the quality of B2B information. In return for your help, you are given free access to ZoomInfo Community Edition as long as you allow ZoomInfo to access your email account and continue contributing business contacts. Join the ZoomInfo community today. Top

Who can use ZoomInfo Community Edition?
Anyone who uses a supported version of Microsoft Outlook or Google Apps for Business to send and receive business-related emails is eligible to take part in the ZoomInfo Community Edition program. Current or past subscribers to one of ZoomInfo's premium services are not eligible to take part in the Community Edition program and accounts created by such users will be deactivated. In addition, ZoomInfo only allows three employees of a single company to access the ZoomInfo Database with ZoomInfo Community Edition. (Learn about ZoomInfo Pro - Professional Edition for four or more employees.)

If you are an Outlook user, you must successfully install the ZoomInfo Contact Contributor software and start sharing contacts before you can access ZoomInfo Community Edition. If you are a Google Apps for Business user, you must provide ZoomInfo with access to your email account before you can access ZoomInfo Community Edition. Your username will be deactivated if you uninstall the software, revoke access to your email account, or violate the ZoomInfo terms of service.

Salespeople and recruiters find the ability to search for professionals by name and/or job title and/or company to be most useful. Jobseekers can also make use of ZoomInfo Community Edition to find contacts within companies and industries where they would like to find a position. Top
