ZoomInfo Announces New President and VP of Engineering
ZoomInfo Broadens Management Team While Expanding Product Portfolio and Continuing Momentum in Marketing, Sales and Recruiting.
December 17, 2008 – Waltham, Mass. – ZoomInfo™, the most comprehensive source of business information on people and companies, today announced the appointment of Sam Zales to President and the previous appointment of William Wechtenhiser as the VP of Engineering. Zales will be responsible for driving the company's operations and business strategy. Wechtenhiser will oversee data quality improvements and the development of the company's next generation of products. ZoomInfo continues to leverage its expertise in semantic search and natural language extraction to drive innovation in business intelligence and enable corporations to improve the success of their sales force, create impactful business-to-business marketing campaigns and help the recruiting industry find talent effectively.
ZoomInfo has seen record growth since refocusing the company equally on sales, marketing and recruiting audiences. So far this year, ZoomInfo has signed over 530 sales or marketing clients and over 1,800 recruiting clients. These appointments will help accelerate this growth by continuing to focus on customer business needs.

Sam Zales brings 25 years of strategy, marketing, sales and product development experience with companies such as BuyerZone, American Express and Bain to ZoomInfo. In his previous role, Sam Zales was the President and CEO of BuyerZone, the leading Internet marketplace for business purchasing from 2000 through its acquisition by Reed Business Information in January, 2007 until November, 2008. He led BuyerZone through the challenging environment of the dotcom bubble to rapid revenue and profit growth by focusing the company's operating efforts and thus solidifying BuyerZone market leadership position. Prior to leading BuyerZone, Sam Zales served as Vice President of Card Marketing at American Express where he was responsible for the launch of the company's corporate purchasing card. Before American Express, Zales worked as a management consultant at Bain and Company in Boston. Zales graduated with honors with a BA from Dartmouth and received a MBA with distinction from Northwestern.
William Wechtenhiser has an extensive background as a technological innovator with companies such as Goldman Sachs, Adobe Systems and Art Technology Group. In his role as VP of Engineering, Wechtenhiser will work closely with Jonathan Stern to continue the company's effort on data quality and quantity improvements while also bringing new products such as ZoomInfo Lists to market. Prior to this position, Wechtenhiser was in charge of information design at Goldman Sachs. While at Adobe Systems, he oversaw the creation of Adobe Flex Data Services and the first two integrated product launches following the acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe Systems. Wechtenhiser has a BS in computational cognitive science from MIT.
Bryan Burdick, ZoomInfo's previous president, will lead ZoomInfo's next stage of growth as corporate development officer and will continue to focus his efforts on driving sales and business development for the company.
