Part of series where our customers share insights on how they get the most out of ZoomInfo Community Edition. Today’s piece features Heather Tapia, Prosperity Advisor at Abundance Marketing Pro and happy ZoomInfo user. Here’s what she has to say.

Tell us a little bit about what you do.

I am a Prosperity Adviser at Abundance Marketing Pro- specializing in coaching small business to abundance by using web marketing techniques. I have several strategic partners- which is how I found out about ZoomInfo.

How do you search ZoomInfo most often? What parameters/search terms do you use?

The ability to target the CFO or owner of the company via phone and email is invaluable. Researching lead generation, prospecting and going for the closing appointment.

Ok, ok we all know how the Gwyneth Paltrow rendition goes – but seriously ZoomInfo is so amped for Dreamforce this year that we’re giving away a CRUISE for Pete’s sake! Let’s just say – it wasn’t easy to pry away the Royal Caribbean envelope when it arrived at the office a few weeks ago… (dear winner, sorry for a few rips and tears)

But for real, ZoomInfo is ready to head west. Six Zoomers will be on-hand at Booth #205 to guide you through product demos of our award-winning Pro solution, let you in on our spankin’ new email validator and answer any questions you may have about Salesforce integration. In just a few days, one of our Zoomers will report back exactly how many of your emails are bad and what we can do to replace them with new contacts.

So let’s hear more about those prizes, eh?

Here’s the deal. Come by the booth to pick up a lucky scratch card for the chance to win a much-needed cruise or one of 6 gift cards from JetBlue, iTunes or Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Hello, my name is Russ Moon and I have been using Zoominfo products now for close to 8 years.

One of the difficult things to do in recruiting is sourcing hard-to-find talent because they tend to fly under the radar and are most likely happily employed, which is undoubtedly a testament to their talents!

As the effects of the most recent recession keep lingering, the velocity of people changing jobs is certainly going up. Keeping track of top talent is key as they change jobs and move in their careers.

Luckily ZoomInfo Pro has a great feature called Alerts, which searches and tracks fresh talent for you 24/7.

We have created a short video (2 minutes 32 seconds) which will walk you through how to leverage your alert and how you can use the List functionality to create very targeted talent pools.

Just follow the steps, it is easy and you will find the time well spent!

Jeff Travilla, Senior Account Manager at Compel Cart and ZoomInfo Community Edition user, shares his strategies for using Community Edition.

Tell us a little bit about what you do.

I’m the head of sales for a digital media, marketing, and ecommerce agency. I work with a large demographic of customers, but my main focus right now is on the restaurant and hospitality industry.

How do you search ZoomInfo most often? What parameters/search terms do use?

I usually come to ZoomInfo knowing what company I’m going after. I use ZoomInfo to narrow down who I need to speak with at the organization. In the industry we target, there tends to be a lot of movement within organizations, so I use another service called mailtester.com in conjunction with ZoomInfo. It checks to see if an email address is valid, which helps me to ensure that the person I’m trying to contact is still with the company. When I do narrow things down to a specific prospect, I usually check LinkedIn, Facebook, etc… to try to learn a little more about them and get a sense of their personality to help me format my approach toward them. I’ve found this integrated approach to prospecting to be a literal game changer in terms of close rates.

Can you recall a specific example of when ZoomInfo Community Edition helped you overcome a challenge?

All the time! Being able to call a gatekeeper and say “Hey, is so-and-so available” gets me through to the right person 10 times more than if I cold called and asked to speak with someone in marketing.  Even if the receptionist gives me some resistance, establishing that I’ve looked into their company enough to find the proper person to speak with does wonders to establish rapport. I’m not just another cold-calling sales person working through some giant list.

Which single ZoomInfo Community Edition feature has helped you most as a business development professional and how do you use it?

With larger companies, being able to sort results by department is an invaluable time-saver.

What’s the most surprising search result you have found?

Let’s just say that not much surprises me anymore. Also, because I walk into ZoomInfo with a very specific game plan, the results are usually on par with my expectations.

As illustrated in our previous post, the ability to offer a sample list for testing is key to knowing to what degree the trash fills your database and to what degree your data provider will be able to help.

So your company has already tested a sample of data from ZoomInfo, what happens next?

Consider the story of Kronos Corporation, a leading workforce management firm, who approached ZoomInfo with a significant database of HR, Finance and Operations executives in target companies that had accumulated over many years. The problem however, was that the data set included key contact names and titles but had no email addresses to complete the records.

We took their prospect list and through our thorough append process we were able to match the companies and people in the list with the correct information in our database. Email address information for the matched contacts was then updated to complete their database records.

After the append, Kronos reported dramatic improvement in database quality, defined by higher campaign effectiveness and increased marketing ROI. Overall ZoomInfo was able to add 100,000 new targeted and profiled email addresses, and since then we’ve helped them with 10 append projects to update all segments of their database.

At ZoomInfo we have a whole range of solutions that can be applied to your unique situation. Whether you are looking at an entire database of outdated contacts, missing information or just a gaping revenue hole, ZoomInfo has aided many clients in solving their issues and helping them on the track to a healthy return on investment. The following is a series on some of the ways we have helped companies grow.

Part I: Test Before You Invest

As ZoomInfo’s maestra of data Anncy Graziano has told us in the past, the first step in purchasing data is to test what you are about to buy. In a world where no data is perfect (though ZoomInfo is working day and night to change this) it is imperative that you have a sample to test against – not only your data but the data you are buying as well.

Consider the following situation.

A major computer company approached us with a problem. They had a massive prospect database that was missing a significant amount of decision-makers, which rendered it utterly impotent.

How could we help them?

This company was selling to small/medium businesses (SMB) firms that were large enough to require their technology solutions. We pulled a sample list for them from our database that centered on IT decision-makers such as Vice-President Technology, Director of IT and MIS Manager.

We further refined this list to focus on those companies of less than $50 million dollars in revenue and less than 500 employees, the “sweet spot” for this company and where they experienced their highest ROI.

The exported list numbered 10,000 contacts and was free for them to test within their database. They had a 24 hour turnaround on this list and purchased a full list of 35,000 contacts and had the highest returning direct marketing campaign in company history.

This is but one way ZoomInfo’s data solutions can help your business. Visit ZoomInfo’s product page to see our full offerings and what we may be able to do for you!
