Industry Leaders Use Largest Source Of Data On People In Business To Find Top Professionals Faster And Less-Expensively
April 21, 2003 - CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Eliyon Technologies has announced that Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) and DreamWorks SKG have signed-on to its service to enhance their recruiting efforts. These additions mark the continued and rapid success of Eliyon, a subscriber database service containing the most comprehensive source of information on business professionals in the United States. Eliyon has proven successful for increasing speed and cost-effectiveness in identifying candidates and companies for recruitment, sales lead generation, competitive research and more.
"Eliyon has the potential to save us a substantial amount of money and increase our ability to find and access top quality candidates," said Kevin Fandel, vice president of Worldwide Staffing at Boston Scientific. "Eliyon allows us to cut through the clutter of the Internet. It provides pertinent, contextual information on business people that enables our recruiters to engage in career discussions with them and explore their interest and fit with Boston Scientific."
In the 12 months since its launch, Eliyon attracted more than 150 customers including nearly 30 companies listed in the Fortune 500. The system continually scans millions of Web sites, press releases, electronic news services, SEC filings and other online sources. Through groundbreaking use of natural language processing technology, it automatically extracts biographical and other information on business professionals, reassembling the data into searchable profiles of individuals and companies. The Eliyon database currently holds 14 million profiles and grows by 450,000 entries each month.
Profiles on individuals already in Eliyon's database are automatically updated and supplemented with newfound data. Additional profiles are created as new professionals are identified. Users can search Eliyon via diverse criteria such as job titles and education, company size, nature and location. Customers can search for candidates from a specific company, enabling them to target professionals working for competitors.
Eliyon counts many industry leaders as customers including some who also use resume databases from Monster, HotJobs, CareerBuilder and others. However, these mainly contain data on active candidates seeking entry-to-mid-level positions. Eliyon provides coverage of mid-to-executive-level candidates not likely to post resumes. According to industry statistics, only 14 percent of professionals actively search for a new job at any moment. Eliyon accesses the larger field of "hidden" or passive candidates; the 86 percent of higher-level executives not actively searching for new positions.
"Top companies need immediate access to the highest quality of data possible to remain out front of competitors," said Jonathan Stern, Eliyon president and CEO. "Whether it's for unearthing the best talent, freshest research or most qualified sales leads, Eliyon delivers results faster and more cost-effectively than traditional methods."
DreamWorks SKG was formed in 1994 by three principal partners - Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, David Geffen - to produce live-action motion pictures; animated features; network/cable television programs; home video entertainment; records; books; toys; and consumer products.
