What is Zipi? How does Zipi work? FAQs Contact the Zipi team

Q: Is Zipi a person, place or thing?
A: Zipi is an acronym for ZoomInfo Plugin.

Q: What are the Zipi system requirements?
A: Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 are supported. You must be using Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Q: Zipi is currently in a "beta" period. What does that mean?
A: The software is still being crafted and is being offered in an "AS IS" state, which is another way of saying that we're still working out the details and it may be unstable from time to time. As a beta user, we look to you for feedback on Zipi and how it operates.

Q: How big is the Zipi download?
A: Approximately 5MB.

Q: Where can I download Zipi?
A: Right here!

Q: Do I have to register to use Zipi?
A: No, Zipi does not require registration.

Q: How much does Zipi cost?
A: Zipi has three different service levels: Basic, Premium Share and Premium Paid. Zipi Basic and Zipi Premium Share are free.

Q: What can Zipi Basic do?
A: Features include:

  • The ability to search by first name, last name of individuals, as well as, by company name.
  • Indexes all emails from your Microsoft Outlook client.
  • Reads all signatures within emails and converts them into Outlook contact records.
  • Automatically updates contact records with the most recent information available from ZoomInfo's Open Address Book.

Q: How do I use Zipi?
A: Most people just start a "new" email and click on the "To:" button or the Address Book icon. This pops up the Zipi Select Recipients form where you can look up people based on first name, last name or company name. Results from your search will appear in the window directly below the input field(s). You can scroll through the results and as you highlight each individual record, you will be shown a business card profile of the individual. When you find the correct person, double click the record or simply click the To, CC or BCC buttons at the bottom left of the Select Recipients form. Click OK or Cancel to return to the e-mail form.

Q: Are there limits to how much I can use Zipi?
A: Yes and no. No, there are no limits to looking up or emailing people within YOUR personal MS Outlook contact folder. But, there will be reasonable limits to the number of searches one can conduct on ZoomInfo-sourced records (we're still in beta so we've decided what "reasonable" means and limits may be changed at any time).

Q: What is the ZoomInfo Open Address Book initiative?
A: ZoomInfo is embarking on a mission to make all professional contact information freely available. Orange is the new white... The best analogy for the Open Address Book is the creation of a universal white pages of the approximately 70 million "Knowledge Workers" in English-speaking countries throughout the world. The Open Address Book is aiming for the most comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date information on professionals including a person's name, company name, company address, company phone number, company URL and corporate email address. The Open Address Book is not intended to compile or reveal private/personal information.

Q: How is my privacy affected by Zipi?
A: Use of Zipi does not change the privacy policy of ZoomInfo. Since we do not require registration to use Zipi, your anonymity is assured.

Q: If I use Zipi, will my friends and colleagues get unwanted emails from me asking them to update their contact records?
A: No. Unlike other Outlook plugins, Zipi does not send automated requests for information to keep your address book up to date.

Q: Can I save searches within Zipi?
A: Not yet. Want to suggest this or some other enhancement to Zipi? Click here to give us your feedback.

Q: How do I uninstall Zipi?
A: Want to try it out, but want the option to remove it? It's easy to uninstall Zipi, click the Start button on your Windows desktop, go to Programs. From Programs you should see a folder for ZoomInfo>ZoomInfo Add-in>Uninstall ZoomInfo Add-In. OR, you can uninstall Zipi at any time from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel.

ZIPI PREMIUM SHARE
Q: How is Zipi Premium Share different from other Zipi service levels?
A: Zipi Premium Share allows a user to conduct premium searches: by job title or by job title at company. However, instead of paying a monthly service fee, Zipi Premium Share membership requires contributing your contact records to the ZoomInfo Open Address Book initiative.

Q: Do I have permission to share contact records in order to become a Zipi Premium Share member?
A: That can only be answered by you and/or your company. In cases where company employees are bound by non-disclosure agreements, it is safe to assume that you do not have permission to share contact records. The best rule is: when in doubt, don't give your records out. Your next best alternative is to become a Zipi Premium Paid member, where no record sharing is required and you get full use of Zipi.

ZIPI PREMIUM PAID
Q: How is Zipi Premium Paid different from other Zipi service levels?
A: Zipi Premium Paid allows a user to conduct premium searches: by job title or by job title at company. There is a monthly service fee for Zipi Premium Paid membership.

Q: How much does Zipi Premium Paid cost?
A: Throughout the beta period, we will be testing a variety of prices, based on several factors, such as usage volume, types of information requested, etc. Zipi Premium Paid has payment options of most major credit cards and PayPal. It is billed on a monthly basis.

Q: Are there limits to how much I can use Zipi Premium Paid?
A: Yes, but these limits are really designed to prevent automated uses of Zipi - nobody wants spam. We like humans to use our products. Bots, not so much.
