Biography

Kartick Kumar is the founder and executive director of the Cambodian Genocide Group (CGG), an international student organization, with the vision of fostering discussion about the Cambodian genocide and actively supporting the implementation of a genocide tribunal. The CGG operates on university campuses throughout Canada and the United States.Kartick has worked extensively on numerous issues surrounding the Cambodian genocide. His academic work focuses on the causes of the genocide and the prospects for reconciliation between victims and perpetrators in Cambodia. He leads the CGGs Reconciliation Project, which is a comprehensive and systematic effort to document the stories of Cambodian genocide victims and survivors within Canada and the United States.Kartick has worked as a human rights investigator in Asia, Africa, Canada and the U.S. He has documented the experiences of abuse survivors in Cambodia, Uganda, Rwanda and most recently in Darfur and Iran. Kartick holds an Honours BA in International Relations & Political Science from the University of Toronto - Trinity College and is completing a graduate degree at Columbia University in New York City.
