Dr. Alan J. Bauman is the Founder and Medical Director of Bauman Medical Group, P.A. located in Wharfside at Boca Pointe in Boca Raton, Florida. Established in 1997, his practice is dedicated exclusively to hair restoration and the treatment of hair loss in men and women. Dr. Bauman advocates a scientific, results-oriented, multi-therapy approach to hair loss, using the latest medical, surgical and alternative techniques to help his patients maintain and/or restore their scalp hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and other areas. Additional therapies also include nutritional modification as well as low level laser therapy.
Dr. Bauman received his M.D. degree with special honors from New York Medical College. He has had internship and residency training in General Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York before specializing in hair restoration in the mid 1990’s. Dr. Bauman is one of less than one-hundred Diplomates of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (www.abhrs.org) in the world. Within the past several years, Dr. Bauman is most well known by the general public from his appearances on ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s Dateline, CNN, Extra and Access Hollywood. His practice and his patients have also been featured in Newsweek, USA TODAY, The New York Times, Woman’s World Magazine and Men’s Health Magazine as well as numerous local and national television news outlets.
Featured stories have included Dr. Bauman’s “Hair Restoration Vacation,” painless computerized anesthesia, eyelash transplants, laser hair therapy, artistic hair transplantation techniques, minimally-invasive hair restoration procedures, the treatment of female pattern hair loss, and others. Dr. Bauman was the first hair restoration physician to be featured in a positive story on NBC’s Dateline, which tracked the 6 and 12-month results of five of his patients participating in hair restoration treatments and procedures he prescribed and/or performed. Each of the five participants had positive results from their treatments which included Propecia, minoxidil, laser therapy, nutritional supplementation and hair transplantation.
An avid educator, public speaker and author on topics of hair restoration, Dr. Bauman has authored and presented hundreds of articles and lectures on hair restoration for physicians and the general public. Dr. Bauman is an active member of the esteemed International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), and has held positions on its Ethics and Bylaws Committee as well as its Media Relations Committee. Recently, Dr. Bauman was honored as “Surgeon of the Month” in Hair Transplant Forum International, the official medical journal published by the ISHRS. At the ISHRS Annual Meetings and Live Surgery Workshops he is an annual participant, lecturer and faculty member. He is also a member of the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, American Hair Loss Council, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and Palm Beach County Medical Society. Dr. Bauman is one of only 30 surgeons worldwide to be invited to be a founding member of the exclusive International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons.
Dr. Bauman is a co-author of several textbooks on such topics as "Health Sciences Chemistry" and the medical school admission process. He was asked to author the “Hair Loss” chapter in Leslie Baumann’s (no relation) latest textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology by McGraw Hill in 2002, which is now in its second edition. Dr. Bauman is a frequent publisher of articles on the current treatment of hair loss for the general public and physician readers. His practice extends nationally as well as internationally, having operated on patients from around the United States as well as Europe, South America, the Far East and South Pacific.
