Alcatel Australia Limited 2001 - Present
COO, Executive General Manager, Services and Operations
A multinational telecommunications company providing a full range of products and services to large and medium size telcos around the world. Transitioning from a pure hardware supplier to a full range service provider, Alcatel is recognised as one of the leaders in helping customers transition legacy networks to the next generation. The Australasian services and operation organisation consists in a staff of over 700 and revenues in excess of $200M Euro. The charter of the Services and Operations organisation has full P/L responsibility for Consulting, Systems Integration, Deployment and Outsourcing Services. Product revenue is included within the eight Services and Operations business divisions. All corporate operations – facilities, logistics, order fulfilment, IT, purchasing, customer support, and project office are part of the Services and Operations Organisation.
Achievements:
• Personally led Alcatel’s support of Telecom New Zealand’s Trinity Programme – a multiyear programme designed to transform the existing network and business to the next generation. Anticipated total investment in excess of NZD $1.4B
• Established the Alcatel’s Australasia operation as a Network Systems integrator, which is currently the strategic objective of the Asia Pacific Operations.
• Implemented key Project Management disciplines that resulted in flawless delivery of solutions to customers, as evidenced by a significant increase in customer satisfaction and zero liquidated damages.
• Personally drove CMM, CMMI and PMI certification of the professional staff to ensure world’s best practices were being followed. Introduced the concept of Service Practice Management, which resulted in the recognition of the Australasia operation being at the forefront of service delivery within the corporation.
• Designed and implemented an innovative web based customer satisfaction survey, which enable the organisation to rapidly respond to customer concerns and issues. Met or exceeded all financial targets for orders, revenue and profitability.


IBM Global Services, Australia 1997 - 2000
Executive Project Manager, Sydney 2000 Olympics Programme
IBM, as a 30-year sponsor of the Olympics, decided that they need full control of technology for the Sydney Games. This required a formal outsourcing relationship between IBM, the IOC (international Olympic Committee) and SOCOG (Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games). 31/2 year program was established growing from five people to over 400 IBM employees and 2000 volunteers at Games Time. As the Games Systems Integrator, IBM was totally responsible for all technology (Computer Hardware, Software, Telecommunication and Printers) even though other sponsors supplied the telecommunications and printers.
Achievements:

• As the bid manager for IBM, successfully led the team for the world’s first outsourcing agreement for Olympic Games technology.
• Directly responsible for the start-up phase of the programme, which established the overall technical and operational strategies for IT support of the Games.
• Designed and implemented the IBM Programme Office for the Olympic Games Programme, including the establishment of all key project management processes followed throughout the 31/2 year programme.
• Personally hired and managed all 36 Results managers who were responsible the design, implementation and operation of the complete technical solution for each sport. All but one results manager made it to the Games.
• Was directly responsible for the Sydney Olympic Park Precinct, which included Stadium Australia, the Sydney Superdome and the Pavilions. The Sydney 2000 Games were recognised as “the best ever”.
