Paul Durrant joined the university sector from industry eleven years ago. During that time he has worked on a wide range of business development projects including research income and commercial development for a university based research centre, institutional commercialisation and IP policy development, graduate enterprise and product development projects (with a particular focus on the creative / digital media sector), international business development for academic partnership projects in China, India and Canada, e learning and home and overseas student recruitment. He has a business / bioscience Masters degree awarded by Brunel University . He served recently as Chair of the Commercialisation Directors’ Group for Scottish universities and is presently a board member of Interface the Scottish Higher Education Business Portal and also Dundee University Incubator Ltd. He conceived and developed the embreonix® incubator programme and he is a founding Director of Dare to be Digital Ltd, the UK’s premier competition for young talent in video games design. With a major expansion of the Dare to be Digital® competition underway to cover the UK and Ireland. He is also a director of two university spin out companies one in industrial biotechnology and one in biometric software.
