Sam Tharp is the Founder of Otrib.com, an online funeral planning/memorial site dedicated to helping consumers plan end of life events.

Previously, he held several senior management roles - VP of Consumer Product, VP of eCommerce and General Manager - at Monster.com, from 2003 to 2007. Under his direction, Monster grew annual revenues from $400M to over $1.2B. Mr. Tharp is also the chairman of Austin Siena, L.L.C., which he founded in 2001.

Before founding Austin Siena, L.L.C., Mr. Tharp ran the Software and Accessories consumer segment for Dell Computer where he had P&L responsibility for a 30,000 product catalog on Dell.com. He transformed the site from a post-computer purchase upsell vehicle into a leading web commerce portal for non-PC hardware, software and computer support services.

Prior to Dell, Mr. Tharp served in various marketing and product management roles at America Online, Inc. During his tenure in marketing, Mr. Tharp oversaw all Internet marketing activity for AOL’s flagship brands: AOL, CompuServe, AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ. Overall subscriber growth for AOL grew from under 5 million to 25 million during this time. As the lead product manager for AOL Instant Messenger, Mr. Tharp led the development team that built the world’s largest communications tool on the web – with over 110 million registered users.

Mr. Tharp earned his bachelor's degree in Economics and English from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
